Memorial Day Sunday, May 28th, 2017, 10:30 AM
“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:12&13
At RGPC we hear the voice of Jesus calling us to serve those who serve. On this morning we will give God glory as we join together with families and friends to honor the lives of Military and First Responders who have gone before us. We invite you to bring in a photo of your loved one and/or any item of memorabilia you would like to place on tables which will be provided. There will be only one service of worship in order to make the way possible for all to worship together giving God thanks and praise for those who have at great sacrifice served others. Please extend our invitation to your families, friends and neighbors. 22 crosses will be reverently placed on our lawn along west Chicago all memorial day weekend Yes, 22 crosses are lovingly being made by members Ron Hiveley & Terry Deming. Above the crosses will be a tribute sign that reads, “We Remember…” in honor of ALL those who have served our country. Why 22 crosses? It is a staggering statistic that in the United States, 22 veterans a day take their own lives. Garden City Presbyterian Church approached our congregation with this idea and we are proud to collaborate with them and offer resources to help. On Sunday May 28th we will each worship at our churches as an act of community to give God thanks for those who have entered the church triumphant and to pray for the comfort and peace of Christ to be upon their families and friends. At RGPC we have a heart to serve those who serve us. How blessed are we?
